Ruth Broomhall – Director, Author

Ruth is an experienced educationalist. She has worked as teacher, advisor, foster carer and trainer and enjoyed leadership roles in History, SEN, Gifted and Talented, Looked After Children and EAL.

She first began teaching The Pilgrim’s Progress in 1992 and since then has taught it in a variety of lower, middle and primary schools, used it creatively in her role as leader of youth and children’s work at Bunyan Meeting, Bedford (2007 -2011), and studied it as part of a Masters in Christian Faith and Practice.

Ruth is keen to support and promote spiritual provision for children and young people and believes strongly in the potential of The Pilgrim’s Progress as a medium for exploring the meaning and impact of faith. She also believes in its ability to engage children and adults from all walks of life, inspiring thought and discussion on the ultimate questions of life, behaviour, faith and Christianity. Ruth is currently engaged in writing and producing high quality resources for schools, churches and other relevant organisations based on The Pilgrim’s Progress, to encourage a new and fresh engagement with Bunyan’s amazing allegory - and the faith that inspired it.

Ruth is currently working with a local artist, Alasdair Bright, on a new children's version of The Pilgrim's Progress: Part II. Christiana's Journey tells the story of Christian's wife, their 4 boys and various other pilgrims that join them along the way. It is due out in Spring 2018.
